Summer Can be a difficult time to Stay Connected to Loved Ones

The summer months are busy, no doubt about it. From increased activities to extended vacations, the weeks fly by between Memorial Day and Labor Day. We see many times, that it is hard for families to stay as connected during the summer than any other times of year due to the busyness of the season.

Here are some tips to help stay in touch during the summer months – or really any time of year.

Go Online

Help the senior in your life to stay connected to you via online. Whether it’s through email, texting, Skype, or social media sharing your photos and thoughts online will ensure communications increase. And don’t forget about online gaming, it’s another great way to play a game, miles apart. And you’d be surprised, more seniors than ever are utilizing technology so don’t be afraid to bring up the topic.

Go Old Fashioned

Receiving a card or package makes anyone’s day! Send a card, a jar of favorite jam, or a good book to read — showing that you care is a great way to make your bond with your family everlasting, regardless of the distance.

Go For Help

If you know you are going to be away for an extended period of time don’t forget to reach out to extended family and friends to arrange for them to visit a loved one. They may assume you are in town so don’t forget to let them know that their visits would be especially appreciated during this time.
